Field Service & Calibration Engineer

CMM Specialist Quality Control Technology Ltd

Based in Derbyshire (Pride Park area)

Extensive UK travel + occasional international

Full-time, Permanent

Join a tight-knit team of 8 engineer, delivering top-class service, and keeping precision metrology equipment CMM ,running smoothly across the UK

  • Work mostly Monday–Friday (8am–4:30pm Mon–Thu, 7:30am–3pm Fri) with occasional weekend/trade show support
  • Extensive UK travel (mainly factory-based role with site visits) + rare international trips for the right opportunities

What you’ll be doing day-to-day

  • Visit customer sites across the UK to carry out routine maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and troubleshooting on all brands of CMMs
  • Install, set up, and commission new or refurbished CMMs — ensuring everything runs perfectly from day one
  • Diagnose technical issues quickly and provide smart, cost-effective solutions to get machines back online fast
  • Deliver professional service and technical support for our customers

What we’re looking for Essential:

  • Full clean UK driving licence (this is non-negotiable!)
  • At least 2 years’ proven experience in a field service engineering role (CMM experience is a big advantage, but strong transferable skills from mechanical/electrical engineering will be considered)
  • Relevant qualification: Degree, HNC, BTEC Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline
  • Solid technical knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, control systems, and the ability to read technical drawings/schematics
  • Excellent communication skills — you’re confident talking to customers and colleagues in fluent English (written & spoken)
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, great time-keeping, and happy working independently on the road

Highly advantageous / preferred:

  • Direct experience servicing, maintaining, and calibrating CMMs (any brand)
  • Familiarity with UKAS BS EN ISO 10360-2:2009 & ISO 10360-5:2020 standards
  • Background in metrology, precision engineering, or related industries
